We all love new hotels in Paris, especially when they come in around the hundred pound mark.
The Hotel Legend, which has just opened on the Left Bank in the 6th arrondissment, costs from 129 euros a night room only. Set in a 19th-century townhouse, it is all slick modern interiors with tree-shaped sculptures hung with lanterns and a suspended passageway.
There are 38 rooms and suites. The rooms are snug but chic, but that is reflected in the price. Details at legendhotelparis.com

At the other end of the scale..
LE BRISTOL, PARIS (lebristolparis.com)
Rue du Faubourg Saint Honor, Paris
What is the must-try? The mac and cheese. Obviously this is not any ordinary mac and cheese, this is macaroni stuffed with black truffle, artichoke and foie gras, sprinkled with Parmesan, then grilled. Not exactly out of a can.
And then what? Make like former President Sarkozy, whose favourite dish is chicken poached in a bladder, cooked in a wine sauce.
Set the scene A three Michelin-starred restaurant, Epicure, with Limoges china and Baccarat crystal glasses. You will know if you are VIP enough if Fa-Roan, the Burmese cat, meets you at the door!
What else? Mingle with the Parisian fash pack at the new Le Bar. And head to the La Prairie spa and pool, which is decked out as a 19th-century sailing boat.
