Kicking off the new site, skiponover.com, I've posted some pieces about classic destinations. There's a reason so many people want to see these places.

Niagara Falls - The Canadian Side gives the basic info on where, what, and why. Try to avoid the tourist traps and focus on the natural wonders of the falls and the surrounding area - one of Canada's garden hotspots.
Banff, Alberta - Beautiful and Touristy Mountain Town is the truth about Banff in a nutshell. It really is beautiful, but pick your times. Avoid long weekends and beautiful summer days if you want to see the townsite. The trails and lakes are much less crowded on any given day, so have no fear there.

Trafalgar Square is a great landmark for the first-time London visitor, easy to find, lots to see in the area.
And for a touch of pageantry, try Changing the Guard at Buckingham Palace.
